St Pat’s win Ian Fyfe T20 title

KARACHI, Nov 10: St Patrick’s High School became the inaugural champions of the KGA Ian Fyfe Memorial Twenty20 Inter-school cricket tournament when they defeated Beacon House Jubilee Campus by 34 runs at the KGA Ground here on Sunday.

St Patrick’s posted a total of 130 for nine with B. Kavindra making 35 off 42 balls with the help of two boundaries. Kafeel Abid scored 22.

In reply, Beacon House were bowled out for 96 in 19.2 overs despite a good knock of 31 from opener Tariq Talha. Off-spinner Kafeel claimed two for 13.

St Patrick’s skipper Aakash Arun received the winners’ trophy from Valentine Gonsalves, the Karachi Goan Association (KGA) Gymkhana president who was the chief guest on the occasion.

Kavindra was adjudged Man-of-the-Match while St Patrick’s High School also made clean sweep of the other individual awards. Noor Butt was declared the best batsman, Aakash Arun the best wicket-keeper and Shah Ali Zafar the best bowler. Nixon Khokhar of St Patrick’s won the best coach prize.

This tournament was held in memory of Ian Fyfe, the Dawn sports reporter who died three years ago
