LAHORE, Nov 9: Opener Khurram Manzoor celebrated his inclusion in the Pakistan team with a fine double-century as Sindh drew their RBS Pentangular Cup match against Punjab at the Gaddafi Stadium here on Sunday.

Khurram, who will join the Pakistan squad in Abu Dhabi for three one-dayers against the West Indies after fellow opener Nasir Jamshed ruled himself out with fitness problems, hit an unbeaten 201 as Sindh declared their first innings at 509-7 to gain a lead of 109.

Punjab in their second innings were 80 for three before the umpires decided to call off the match. Mohammad Hafeez, who made 78 in the first innings, remained unbeaten with 61.

Wicket-keeper/batsman Sarfraz Ahmed struck 115 as Sindh added 249 to their Saturday’s total of 260-4. Khurram, who resumed at 114, extended the fifth partnership with Afsar Nawaz (66, five fours) to 265 that greatly helped the visitors to recover from 111-4.

After the departure of Afsar, Khurram and Sarfraz Ahmed continued to prosper on batting friendly track as they put on 163 for the sixth wicket in almost three hours.

Sarfraz was eventually dismissed after striking 11 fours and three sixes in a fine 133-ball knock.

Skipper Naumanullah declared Sindh’s innings soon after Khurram completed his double century after a marathon stay of 11 hours and 48 minutes. Khurram’s wonderful innings, that spanned 421 deliveries, contained 21 boundaries.
