Pakistani Lawmakers in UK

LONDON, Nov 7: A 14-member parliamentary delegation from Pakistan is currently visiting the UK at the invitation of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, on a week-long orientation programme.

According to a press release issued by the Pakistan High Commission, the purpose of the programme is to acquaint Pakistani parliamentarians with the role and responsibilities of Westminster MPs in the national, regional and constituency environments.

The major objectives of the visit include understanding how parliament works at Westminster, and the relationship between national, regional and local governments within the UK.

The Pakistani parliamentarians will visit various constituencies to learn about the role of a Westminster MP in community setting. They will also explore relationship between MPs and the media.

The delegation includes Mohammad Baleeghur Rehman, Nasrullah Khan Bijarani, Tariq Fazal Chaudhary, Khurram Dastgir Khan, Liaquat Ali Khan, Noor Alam Khan, Sardar Salim Haider Khan, Sardar Mohammad Arshad Khan Laghari, Abdul Qadir Patel, Syed Nasir Ali Shah, Pir Dilawar Shah, Khushbakht Shujaat, Saira Afzal Tarar, Sufyan Yusuf and PILDAT representative Aasiya Riaz.
