ISLAMABAD, Nov 7: A pedestrian was killed after being run over by a vehicle here on Friday, police said.
Mohammad Ghulam, 65, suffered multiple injuries when the vehicle hit him while he was crossing a road at Sarai Kharboza. He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The police arrested the driver and impounded the vehicle for legal action.
Meanwhile, a man deprived a jeweller of gold ornaments worth thousands of rupees.
Three persons, including a woman, arrived at the goldsmith’s shop located in Super Market and selected two sets of jewellery. One of the persons introduced himself as a captain in the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) and asked the shopkeeper that he wanted to show the jewellery to his sister sitting in the car parked adjacent to the shop.
The jeweller fell into the trap and gave the ornaments to the impersonator, who escaped with the ornssssaments in the car.
In another incident auto-thieves lifted a pickup owned by Niaz Ali from the parking area of the Capital Development Authority.
Three arrested in robbery, theft cases: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has arrested three persons allegedly involved in robbery and theft cases, including looting the house of a diplomat of the Indian High Commission.
A spokesman for the police said here on Thursday that the CIA staff also recovered stolen items including gold ornaments, sound system, laptop and other valuables.
