KARACHI: Land grant process

KARACHI, Nov 7: The Sindh government has announced that 25 acres (not 20 acres as earlier reported) of cultivable land will be distributed among landless women peasants. The land distribution will being on Nov 25.

A spokesman for the Board of Revenue said on Friday that open katchehris (courts) would be convened for the purpose by DCOs in their respective districts, starting from Nov 15.

He said that district authorities had given clearance, based on physical verification, for the allotment of 64,717 acres of barrage land, adding that another 24,500 acres of land in Thatta was also in the process of physical verification.

He recalled that initially, a total of 218,651 acres of state land had been identified for distribution among landless peasants under the provincial government’s relevant programme. Giving a category-wise break down of these lands, he said 142,536 acres was barrage, 45,358 was katcha and 30,757 acres was barani land.
