DADU, Nov 6: People staged a demonstration here on Thursday in protest against the Utility Stores officials for selling cooking oil, flour and other kitchen items to shopkeepers.

Nawab Zadi said that staff at the Utility Store-1 refused to sell ghee and atta while the same were being traded to private shopkeepers. The lady demanded action against those responsible.

Another customer Fateh Khatoon said that she went to complain to zonal manager of Utility Stores in Dadu against selling of food items but he refused to meet her.

Social worker Nadeem Ahmed Ghaloo said that officials were not selling things to public but only to shopkeepers. He appealed to President Asif Zardari and Prime Minister Gilani to ensure proper supply of food items at Utility Stores.

HUNGER STRIKE: PPP supporters and disabled persons continued token hunger strike here on Thursday to protest against what they alleged sale of jobs in some government departments. The affected people observed token hunger strike outside local press club.

Ghulam Hussain Shaikh alleged that the EDOs were issuing offer letters for jobs in different departments on the recommendation of MPAs and MNAs. He alleged that some PPP activists and their relatives were involved in corruption. He threatened to continue protest if recent recruitment was not cancelled.

The disabled persons also observed token hunger strike outside the press club and appealed to senior PPP leaders to implement quota of disabled persons in jobs.

SUICIDE: A young man was electrocuted in Rehmani Nagar on Thursday after coming in contact with a live wire.
