LANDI KOTAL, Nov 6: At least six persons including two real brothers were killed in two separate incidents in Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency on Thursday.

In the first incident, masked gunmen tried to kidnap three persons in Bara Qadeem and opened fire on them when they resisted the move. The three persons including two brothers sustained serious injuries. They were shifted to a hospital in Peshawar where they succumbed to their injuries. The deceased belonged to a reputed business family of Gudar village in Jamrud tehsil.

Sources said that head of the family, Haji Jalil, was a whole sale dealer of foreign goods in Karkhano Market and had close affiliations with Tanzim Ahle Sunnath Wal Jammath.

The Tanzim activists are targeted by a Bara-based militant organisation which has recently accepted responsibility for the murder of another Jamrud elder Mulana Juma Gul.

In another incident three members of a Shiekhmal Khel sub-tribe of Qambar Khel were killed in an ambush by unidentified persons near Hayatabad in Peshawar. The three deceased Malik Gulistan, Noor Badshah and Muzafar Shah were on their way to Bara from Peshawar along with other members of a jirga when their vehicle was ambushed near Hayatabad. No body has so far claimed responsibility for the killing of Sheikhmal Khel elders. —Correspondent
