TOBA TEK SINGH, Nov 5: The district bar association has banned the entry of district and sessions judge Jalaluddin Akbar for life in Toba bar and decided to write to the Punjab Bar Council not to issue him a practicing license as lawyer after his retirement from the service.

The D&SJ had allegedly ordered a baton-charge on lawyers on Tuesday when they ransacked and locked his courtroom. Jalaluddin Akbar is going to retire in December next.

The lawyers took the decision in a meeting which was addressed by bar president

Mian Shoaib Muhammad, secretary Sardar Iqbal Dogar and others.

The meeting demanded immediate transfer of D&SJ Jalaluddin Akbar and City police SHO Munir Ahmad for torturing lawyers.

It also decided to continue boycotting of courts of the D&SJ, civil judges Umer Hayat and Ibrar Hussain till Nov 10.

Lawyers also took out a rally to condemn the police baton-charge. They also shouted slogans against the police and the D&SJ.

At Gojra, lawyers on Wednesday observed a complete strike to condemn the police for resorting to baton-charge on their colleagues in Toba.

Similarly, Kamalia bar association members also observed a strike to show solidarity with Toba lawyers.

They also held a meeting which decided to boycott court proceedings on Thursday to protest the insulting attitude of Kamalia additional district and sessions judge Rana Qayyum with lawyers.
