LAHORE, Nov 2: Pak Elektron Limited (PEL) managed to earn their fifth win in the Pakistan Premier Football League when they defeated Chaman’s Afghan Club 3-1 at the Model Town ground on Sunday.

PEL took the lead in the fifth minute of the match when striker Din Badshah controlled a chip from the right wing and sent the ball past onrushing goalkeeper Fateh Mohammad.

It was Badshah’s first goal in the event.

Afghan Club levelled the score when midfielder Abdul Aziz utilised a cross from striker Mehmood Ali in the 18th minute.

Striker Muzaffar Ali gave PEL the lead in the 32nd minute with angular drive past the goalkeeper’s outstretched left hand.

PEL were leading 2-1 at the interval.

The second session saw PEL’s goalkeeper Ahmad Shahzad, who entered the field in place of limping Mujahid Sarfraz in the 34th minute, blocking several Afghan shots coming from internationals like Jadeed Khan, Mohammad Dawood and Mahmood.

PEL’s third goal came from the penalty-mark in the 47th minute when FIFA referee Asif bin Younus penalised Afghan Club’s central defender Mohammad Rafiq for a handball infringement and Mohammad Rashid slotted the ball into the left corner from the 11-metre mark.

In another match of the day, defending champions Wapda overcame Karachi Port Trust 1-0 at the Railways Stadium.

The score was 0-0 at the breather and the only goal was scored by Abdul Abbas in the 65th minute.

Monday’s fixtures: Army v Pak Steel (Army Stadium, Rawalpindi); KRL v PIA (KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi).
