LAHORE, Nov 2: Controller General of Accounts of Pakistan Mohammad Mohsin Khan has said that district accounts officers (DAOs) are not authorised for any kind of payment if the concerned district nazim does not sign the statement of authorised expenditure (budget book).

According to a handout issue here, the controller general said that all payments without district nazim’s sanction would be treated illegal and irregular.

Addressing the DAOs conference, the controller general said that the law division had clarified the position and letters to all the chief secretaries had been written in this connection.

Accountant General Punjab Muhammad Iqbal Arain, all deputy accountant generals and DAOs were present on the occasion.

The controller general of accounts said that government was working for the preparation of transparent and reconciled reports of expenditures and receipts on priority basis. All the decisions at highest level were taken on the basis of transparent and reconciled financial reports and delay in submission of such reports affected the overall financial policy and decisions regarding financial matters.
