LAHORE, Nov 2: Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has transferred the Traffic Engineering and Traffic Planning Agency (Tepa) chief engineer for not getting the third party audit of the Walton Road project despite his clear instructions. He also ordered the contractor to complete Thokar Niaz Beg Flyover by Jan 15 and Walton Road till the 15th of this month, says a handout.

Mr Sharif said this at a meeting held to review the pace of implementation of various development projects here.

The chief minister said work on Multan Road should be accelerated so that best traveling facilities were provided to people. He said that the timely and quality completion of these development projects should be ensured and a third party audit of these projects must be carried out. He said the government would provide all funds for early completion of the project. He said he had already issued clear instructions to the departments engaged in constructional activities that the maximum work should be carried out at night so that people do not face difficulty and the work could be completed soon.

The chief minister asked the contractors to complete Walton Road from Ferozepur Road to Khayaban-e-Iqbal by Nov 15 instead of Nov 30. Taking serious note for not getting third party audit of Walton Road project, he transferred the Tepa chief engineer. He directed the NESPAK managing director to submit a report for widening the road from Thokar Niaz Beg to Moghuplura and making it of three lanes due to increasing population and rush of traffic but this fact must be kept in view that the trees should not be cut during widening of the road.
