BNP city chief shot dead

KARACHI, Nov 1: Five people, including a city chief of the Balochistan National Party, were killed here on Saturday.

Police and witnesses said that two young men were killed when unknown attackers on a motorcycle sprayed their car with a volley of bullets near Jilani Masjid in Garden.

Identified as Ismail and Amir, the victims were stated to be supporters of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

A local office-bearer of the banned Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan was gunned down by unknown assailants near Nagin Chowrangi. The victim, Ghulam Mohammed Sunni, was on foot when attacked.

The Gulbahar police said BNP city chief Zahid Baloch was shot dead in Golimar by two motorcyclists. The victim received six bullets from a close range.

Meanwhile, two alleged gangsters, belonging to the Arshad Pappu group, were killed in a shootout with police in Lyari. Police claimed to have seized two TT pistols and two hand-grenades on the bodies of Shahzad Ghabbar and Gharibu.
