KARACHI, Nov 1: Four-year-old bay filly Sugar Sweet, which finally rose to the occasion on last Sunday, is likely to steal limelight when the Gymkhana race meeting takes place at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

The filly from the stables of Shah Mardan Pir Pagara galloped to an emphatic seven-and-a-half lengths’ victory under jockey Essa to register her maiden win of the year.

Sugar Sweet’s victory in convincing fashion has put her heads and shoulder above the rest of competitors in the second race to be run over a sprinting distance of five furlongs.

Those who come in the reckoning for the following two places are filly Lady Clever and bay Trust Again.

Sugar Sweet’s stable mate filly Dilruba is tipped to make amends and present owner with a winner in the opener.

After posting two-and-a-half lengths’ victory on Oct 5 she was relegated to second place behind Back In Action in the closely contested race the following week.

She is likely to be chased by filly Leopard Of Arab among eight runners barring last minute withdrawls.

However, mare Blind Date and bay Cash Deposit can come up with surprising result.

On current form nine-year-old bay Silver City stand tall and should make amends by landing the third race. Her likely challengers in a field of 15 runners are Dream Prince and New Ferrari.

Five-year-old mare Stormy Kiss who was beaten by four lengths in The September Cup should atone for the loss by landing the feature event which is the fourth race of the day. She should be followed by Savabeel and Taiz Per.

Three-year-old colt The Reyan should make it two-in-a-row by claiming the supporting event.

Novaho’s Glory and Al Tahura are poised to shine in the last two races.

A card of seven races has been chalked out for the day with first race getting into action at 1.30pm.
