OKARA, Nov 1: Two traders, who were abducted eight days ago for Rs20 million ransom, were released in Mardan on the intervention of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) representatives.
Fruit market traders Muhammad Idrees and Ashiq went to Islamabad to receive Rs1.5 million from Mukhtar. Mukhtar took them to Mardan, phoned Idrees’ brother Dr Liaquat Ali and demanded Rs20 million for Idrees and Ashiq’s release.
Ali, who too is a representative of JI, got both traders rescued with the help of JI NWFP representatives Sirajul Haq, Fazl-e-Rabbani and Maulana Safiullah without paying the ransom.
