SHIKARPUR, Nov 1: Provincial Minister for Zakat and Ushr, Mohammad Sajid Jokhio, has said that the Sindh government was determined to redress the grievances of the people and resolve their problems at their door steps.

Addressing an open kutchehry at Municipal Jumani Hall here on Saturday, he said that all out efforts were being made to curb irregularities in Zakat system so that deserving people could receive financial assistance through Zakat funds in each district.

Earlier, local PPP leaders including taluka president PPP Khanpur, Syed Gulab Shah, taluka president PPP Lakhi Abdul Qadir Chachar, city president Mohammad Peeral Sanjrani, Azad Ali Shaikh, Hafiz Umer Daraz Siddiqui, Chairman district zakat and ushr committee, Azizullah Mangi and district zakat officer Abdul Shakoor Soomro highlighted the general problems including poor coordination of the managements of scheduled banks in Shikarpur in connection with the opening of new accounts by the Zakat holders and encashment of their cheques etc.

The minister asked them to resolve people’s problems without any further delay. He warned the employees of district zakat management of serious action if they were found involved in corruption and misappropriation of Zakat funds.

Later, the minister distributed cheques of Rs2,500 each among 200 deserving people belonging to ten local zakat committees of district Shikarpur as Guzara Allowance.
