KARACHI, Nov 1: An 81-year-old woman was found slaughtered in her apartment on Saturday.

The Boat Basin police said that the elderly woman, Farrukh Jahan Begum, daughter of Shamshad Ali, was found stabbed to death at around 11am at her apartment near Bin Qasim Park in Clifton.

They said that the woman was alone at the flat as her adopted son had left for his office in Bath Island at around 8.45am.

The police said that a maid servant, Hasina, reached the house in the morning to find the main door of the apartment open.

They said that the woman servant went inside and found the body lying on the floor near the victim’s bed.

The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre by a Chhipa ambulance for a post-mortem examination.

Sources at the hospital’s medico-legal section told Dawn that the victim received a fatal wound by a sharp object in her throat.

The police registered a case against an unknown number of unidentified culprits on the complaint of Haider Masood, the victim’s adopted son.

Family sources said that the victim never married and brought up a son and a daughter of her sister who had died several years ago.

The police said that an investigation into the murder had been initiated.

They said that nothing valuable was found missing from the apartment of the victim, who was stated to be a relative of former Sindh High Court judge Qadeer Uddin.
