ISTANBUL, Oct 31: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that Nato forces in Afghanistan must stop violating Pakistan’s airspace because it adversely affects the country’s efforts in the war against terrorism.

Talking to Belgian Foreign Minister Karel de Guelt during a meeting on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum here on Friday, the prime minister said Pakistan was paying a heavy price for being a frontline state in the war.

He called for world community’s cooperation and said that a prosperous Pakistan was essential for global peace and prosperity.

The Belgian minister expressed grief over the loss of lives and destruction caused by earthquake in Balochistan.

The prime minister said the government was mobilising all available resources to provide relief to the affected people.

The two leaders discussed regional and global issues, particularly the problem of terrorism and extremism faced by Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The prime minister said Pakistan was facing severe socio-economic and law and order problems as a result of providing shelter to over two million Afghan refugees.

During a meeting with Mr Gilani, Kyrgyz Prime Minister Igor Chudinov offered to supply electricity and cooperate with Pakistan in speedy implementation of the project.—APP
