KARACHI, Oct 31: Karachi United FC beat Gulshan FC 2-0 while District West Champions Ghani XI beat District South champions Lal Bakhsh Memorial 3-1 in the ongoing KASB Premier League Football (PLF) tournament at the CDGK stadium on Thursday.

With their third continuous win, Karachi United FC are surely on a roll. Still the score at halftime was 0-0.

The first goal came in the 47th minute when left-winger Usman Saad’s cross pass was easily diverted to the goal by striker Daniyal Alvi. And the lead was doubled by striker Zaid Kerai in the 82nd minute.

Meanwhile, too many chances were missed in the Ghani XI-Lal Bakhsh encounter although Ghani XI were obviously the stronger side from the very beginning. Ghani XI’s skipper Hashmatullah also missed out on a great opportunity when he failed to utilise a penalty kick.

The winners scored the first goal when right winger Zaheer Ahmed’s try rebounded off goalkeeper Mohammad Tariq and was pushed in by striker Mohammad Tahir in the 35th minute. The score at interval was 1-0.

The second session saw the scoring of two more goals by Ghani XI. Both were scored by their right winger Zaheer Ahmed, in the 74th and 76th minutes on solo attempts.

Lal Bakhsh’s consolation goal came just three minutes before the final whistle when their substitute striker Jan Alam beat Ghani’s defenders to finally score.
