Factory fire causes loss in millions

FAISALABAD, Oct 31: A fire broke out in a textile factory on Jaranwala Road, reducing to ashes gray cloth bales worth millions of rupees here on Friday morning.

Rescue 1122 sources said the fire erupted in the godown of Shama Textile Mills at 6:51am due to short-circuit and the inferno soon engulfed all gray cloth bundles stored there.

Rescuers rushed to the scene and took nearly 10 hours to bring the fire under control. However, no injury or casualty was reported. The mills management did not reveal the loss amount.

COMMIT SUICIDE: Two persons committed suicide while another three were admitted to hospitals here on Friday.

Reports said Shakoor, 28, of Chak 247-RB committed suicide by taking poisonous pills because he suffered a heavy loss in the business.

Ilyas Ahmad, 27, of Pindi Bhattian, who was jobless, took poisonous pills and was brought to the Allied Hospital, but he could not survive.

Ali, 21, of Hajveri Town, Zubeda, 22, of Sadar Bazaar (Ghulam Mohammadabad) and Abida, 20, of Rashidabad also attempted to commit suicide.

They were being treated at the Allied Hospital where doctors described their condition as stable.
