KARACHI, May 10: A constitutional petition challenging cancellation of admission of a girl student against doctors’ quota came up before a division bench of the Sindh High Court on Friday.

The bench comprised Justice Sabihuddin Ahmed and Justice Zia Perwez. The petitioner had made the provincial health secretary, the director IBA, and Farajuddin, respondent for cancellation of her medical seat on doctors’ quota and awarding it to the third respondent.

The court put the respondents and the AAG Sindh on notice to file comments as to how the seat of the petitioner was subsequently cancelled.

Ms Maria, through counsel Mohammed Nawaz Shaikh, had contended that the petitioner appeared in the entrance test at Chandka Medical College, Larkana, and she had secured 58.89 per cent marks as against respondent Farajuddin who secured 58.75 per cent.

The counsel contended that contrary to the announcement of merit list the respondent director of the IBA, without any notice and in collusion with others, removed the name of the petitioner and in her place the name of respondent Farajuddin had been inserted.

Counsel Shaikh had argued that on inquiry it was revealed that question No 15 of Part III Physics had been cancelled without any justification which amounted to serious fraud allegedly committed by the respondents.
