ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: Leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Q have denied that there is a forward bloc in the party, but admitted there was a group of about “six people” who have some grievances which can be addressed.

Talking to reporters after a party meeting on Thursday, PML-Q President Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, Hamid Nasir Chattha, Senator Tariq Azeem and Senator Salim Saifullah Khan rejected reports about differences over the party leadership.

Chaudhry Shujaat said he would not contest the party elections due in August next year because he had already completed two terms as president. He said that every member had the right to seek any office.

Mr Chattha said the meeting did not discuss the issue of party leadership and the change would come only through internal elections.

He admitted that the PML-Q had not played an active role of opposition in the National Assembly and the matter was discussed at the meeting.

Interestingly, at the time the PML-Q leaders were talking to journalists, some members of the forward bloc were reported to be attending a dinner hosted for them by President Asif Ali Zardari at the presidency.
