GHALANAI, Oct 30: Security forces have arrested a man who trained suicide bombers after an encounter with militants in the Mohmand tribal region. Four suspected militants were killed in the clash. A senior official told journalists at the Mohmand Rifles’ headquarters on Thursday that militant commander Imran alias Mansoor prepared suicide bombers and trained militants in making suicide jackets and explosive devices.

He was injured in the clash in Derwazgai area and his four accomplices were killed, the official said, adding that Imran had been taken to a government hospital in Ghalanai.

Imran was in-charge of a militant centre in Mulakhel area.

According to another official, Imran belonged to Mardan district.

He said a binocular, two Kalashnikov rifles, seven hand-grenades and some cell phones had been found in Imran’s possession. His vehicle was destroyed in the gunbattle.

Meanwhile, political authorities announced that the road between Mohmand and Peshawar would remain open to traffic from 10am to 3pm daily.

The decision was taken at a meeting with local elders.

Officials have appealed to tribesmen to expel local and foreign militants from their areas.
