SUKKUR, Oct 30: The first civil judge of Rohri Abdul Raheem Chandio on Thursday remanded a 15-year-old accused in jail custody for five days after he complained that police had tortured him mercilessly.
Police had arrested Arif Hussain, 15, late on Wednesday night on charges of possessing illegal arms and encounter. Arif was goping to Rohri taluka hospital on a motorcycle when a police mobile chased him. He got so confused that he fell off the moving bike and the police had to move him to taluka hospital, sources close to the matter said.
In the meantime, another police party of Rohri police arrested Abdul Rehman Shaikh and Abid Abro and then wrested away Arif Hussain from the hospital bed to police station. They registered two cases against them accusing them of possessing illegal arms and encounter with police.
Police claimed that they had found a TT pistol in Airf’s possession and a KK rifle from Abdul Rehman Shaikh.
The sources said that police mercilessly tortured all the three “criminals” throughout the night and resultantly Arif Hussain was not even able to walk in the morning. When Arif was produced in court in the morning he told the judge that he was innocent and never possessed illegal arms and complained that police had tortured him mercilessly.
