ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: The Sindh police will submit an initial report on Tasleem Solangi case to women development and interior ministries on Nov 1 (Saturday).
“The case would be taken forward on the basis of findings in the preliminary report,” said Federal Minister for Women Development Sherry Rehman on Thursday.
She told reporters that the federal government was monitoring investigations and wants to punish those involved in the murder of the 17-year-old.
President and the Prime Minister have directed the authorities to investigate the case, she said.
The Inspector General Police Sindh is directed to reinvestigate the matter for which a three-member committee including DIG, SSP and SP Sukkur has been constituted, she said.
Ms Rehman said that another challenge posed by the case is the gap of several months between the reporting and the occurrence of crime.
However, she vowed to punish the culprits no matter how influential they were.
