PARACHINAR, Oct 30: A paramilitary soldier was killed and three other sustained injuries when lightning hit a Frontier Corps checkpost in Shakar Dara area of Kurram tribal region on Thursday.

The lightning hit the Shagai security checkpost in Lower Kurram region killing FC soldier Naeem Khattak on the spot. Three other FC personnel Qayyum Khan, Gul Zaman and Zabta Khan Mehsud were injured in the incident.

The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital where condition of one of them was stated to be critical.

KIDNAPPED: The brother of Senator Engineer Rashid Ahmed Khan was kidnapped from Balishkhel area on Thursday.

It was learnt that armed men wearing masks whisked away agency councillor Nadir Khan, a brother of Senator Rashid Ahmed Khan, from the Sadda bazaar when he was coming home after attending a jirga.

The jirga members and political administration officials said that Senator Rashid and his brother Nadir Khan were making efforts to bring peace to the region for the last several days.

They were taking part in the peace committees meetings.
