MQM activist shot dead

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 29: An activist of Muttahida Qaumi Movement was gunned down by the intruders inside his home in Gharibabad early on Wednesday.

Reports said that two unidentified men barged into the house of Ashfaque Ahmed Rajput, 45, former member Zonal Committee, MQM, Mirpurkhas under the cover of darkness due to power breakdown.

His son woke up and finding intruders inside raised alarm upon which

Ashfaque Rajput tried to catch them. However, the armed man opened fire on him and fled from the house. Ashfaque was seriously injured and rushed to the Civil Hospital Mirpurkhas where he died. Town police had also reached there and after post-mortem, his body was handed over to the relatives.

Shops remained closed in mourning, while scores of people visited his residence.

Reports said that Ashfaque after removal from the office of member zonal committee had begun working as starter at coach stand Old Khipro Naka. Office-bearers and workers of MQM attended the funeral. The body was laid to rest in local graveyard.
