LAHORE, Oct 29: Chitral-born Mohammad Rasool once again showed his class as a goal-getter as Pakistan Premier Football League’s (PPFL) 115th encounter unfolded into joy for Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at the KRL Stadium, Rawalpindi, on Wednesday.

They defeated Pakistan Navy 1-0 in the second leg to topple Karachi Port Trust (KPT) from the top on goal average. KRL and KPT secured 32 points but KRL’s 21 plus goals are much better than KPT’s six plus.

KRL were the first to settle down but Mohammad Qasim fumbled on an easy third minute chance off Sajjad’s cross. Navy had their first move in the 25th minute but midfielder Farhan Qadir saw his drive off Nasir’s corner ricochet off the cross-bar. Nasir’s powerful attempt to score through a rebound also went wide off target.

It was 0-0 at interval with the lone goal of the match emerging in the 60th minute when striker Mohammad Rasool hammered his 15th goal to keep himself as the top scorer of the event. Rasool utilised skipper Mohammad Essa’s pass for the all-important goal that lifted KRL to the top of the 14-team table.

Essa might have scored the second for KRL in the dying seconds off Abid Khan’s pass but referee Tahir Pervaiz ruled the current Pakistani skipper off-side.
