SAHIWAL, Oct 28: The Punjab School Education Service Teachers’ Association has criticised the Punjab accountant general for cancelling the mobility allowance of teachers living in small cities and towns and threatened to launch a protest drive from Nov 6 if the allowance was not restored.

The Punjab government launched the Rs450 monthly allowance in Sept 2007. Mushtaq Ahmed Kathia, additional secretary of the association, said teachers in big cities were getting transport allowances but the mobility allowance for teachers from small cities and rural areas had been terminated.

The association met at Comprehensive School, Sahiwal, on Oct 27 planned the protest drive against the government.
