ISLAMABAD, Oct 27: The Chairman of the National Vocational and Technical Education Commission (Navtec), Adnan A. Khwaja, has said that all efforts will be made to export well-trained and skilled workforce to Middle East and Gulf regions.

He was talking to trainees of the 4th batch of Navtec at the POF Institute of Technology (POFIT) on Monday.

Three batches of 120 trainees each have already completed short technical training courses of three-month duration in 30 different trades. Major areas of training were turning, milling, fitting, grinding, shaping of tools etc. The 4th Batch of Navtec trainees has joined the POFIT and it is their inaugural day of training.

Mr Khwaja said that remittances of overseas Pakistanis had been playing vital role in economic growth of the country and expressed the hope that export of good number of skilled workforce would greatly help in reducing dependence on foreign assistance.

He advised trainees to learn and receive training with utmost devotion and dedication.

POFIT’s principal Shahid Mehmood briefed the chairman on the organisational set up of the institute and training facilities available there. He said there were 27 laboratories for providing training to POF employees and other participants of public and private sector departments.
