Seven cops sacked

Published October 28, 2008

LAHORE, Oct 27: Seven police officials have been dismissed from service on various charges by the SSP (operations).

According to a handout, sub-inspector Muhammad Iqbal and constables Ali Raza and Shahzad of Baghbanpura police were terminated for their involvement in criminal activities.

Abdul Qayyum complained to the CCPO that head-constable Fida Husain had taken Rs100,000 from him to get recruited his brother in the police department as driver. He also promised that he would make the driving license of his brother. Qayyum said his brother was dismissed from service for having fake license, but the head-constable was not returning his money.

The CCPO marked an inquiry to the SSP (operations) who found the allegations against the head-constable true.

Similarly, constable Usman took bribe from Bashir for making a new driving license. Two constables were dismissed for absence from duty and failure to appear before the orderly room despite reminders. —Staff Reporter
