LARKANA, Oct 27: Police on Monday produced three brothers aged 19, 13, 11 in the court of third judicial magistrate Ahmed Nawaz Domki and sought their remand but the judge allowed remand of only the eldest.
The brothers face charges of kidnapping a woman and her three-year-old son, according to police.
The judge refused to remand minor brothers Abdul Sattar Bafat, 13, and Rafique Barfat, 11, in police custody and instead sent them to 14 days remand in judicial custody. He, however, remanded Haneef Barfat, 19, in police custody for three days.
The brothers were held after one Shahnawaz Jatoi of Haidri Mohalla lodged an FIR at Haidri police station on Oct 21, accusing them of kidnapping his wife Waheeda and three-year-old son Sarfraz.
Police raided a house in Lasi village of Karachi on Sunday and arrested the three brothers. The brothers denied charges and told journalists in the court that all they knew about Ms Waheeda was that she used to live near their house about four months ago and later shifted to Larkana.
Police claimed that the three brothers were abettors in crime if not perpetrators.
