GHALANAI, Oct 26: Nine security personnel were injured when a suicide bomber rammed an explosive-laden car into a checkpost in Mohmand Agency on Sunday night.

Official sources said the checkpost was jointly manned by the Frontier Corps and Khasadars. Normally 10 to 15 personnel manned the post.

This was the first suicide bombing in Mohmand Agency. Four militants were injured in a clash with FC in Karapa the previous day.

The assistant political agent of Ghalanai told Dawn that at least six FC personnel and three khasadars had been injured.

Some other sources, however, said up to 10 personnel had died.

The blast destroyed the post and the barrier on the Mohmand-Bajaur road, around 10kms from here. Security personnel faced difficulty in pulling out the injured from the rubble because of darkness.

The Frontier Corps cordoned off the area before getting down to a rescue operation. The blast was heard and its impact felt in places nearly 10kms away.
