ATTOCK, Oct 26: New deputy superintendent police will take charge as sub-divisional police officer of Hazro Police Circle on Monday.

According to sources, appointment of Syed Akbar Abbass has special importance as the area is being used for smuggling of wheat flour from Punjab to NWFP.

Mr Abbass has earlier served as SDPO Taxila and Gujar Khan police circles. The sources said Mr Abbas has tough job at his hands to curb smuggling of wheat flour to NWFP, particularly through Ghorghusti via under-construction Chacch Interchange on Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M-1).

His predecessor DSP Malik Irshad was transferred some days ago. It is worth mentioning here that DPO Fakhar Sultan Raja had expressed his displeasure against him and served showcause notice to SHO Hazro police station and four officials of Ghorghusti police post for failing to control the commodity smuggling through the jurisdiction of the Hazro police circle.
