KARACHI, Oct 26: The Sindh Reserve Police is being turned into a specialised force and will be imparted training of “marksmen” and “assault group”.

This was stated by the Inspector-General of Police, Sindh, Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak.

“The police recruiting syllabus has been changed with more emphasis on practical policing,” he said, observing: “We have to teach them how to work under changed situations — providing security to VIPs, handling mobs, etc.” He said that under new syllabus, courses on weapon handling were being introduced and some 75,000 constables and head-constables would be trained in this field over the next two years.

The IG said the objective of these measures was to upgrade the force to make it efficient enough to respond to the present day challenges.—APP
