LAHORE, Oct 22: A sub-inspector and two constables of Iqbal Town police have been dismissed from service on various charges.

According to a handout issued on Wednesday, SI Atta Muhammad and his subordinates had entered a marriage hall and subjected innocent citizens to severe torture.

SSP (operations) Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed had marked an inquiry into the matter to the Iqbal Town division SP who found the SI guilty of the crime.

Similarly, the SSP has also dismissed two constables Muhammad Arif and Hassan Akhtar of the same police for detaining four citizens illegally and torturing them.

One-year service of former Mustafaabad SHO Khalid Farooq has been forfeited for using delaying tactics in registration of two theft cases.

The SSP also ordered forfeiture of one-year service of Johar Town SHO Muhammad Riaz for raiding the house of a citizen for the recovery of illegal weapons in other police station’s limits without informing the police concerned.

The SSP has dismissed three SHOs, six SIs, 11 ASIs, four head constables and 13 constables on different charges during the last five months.

Besides, two annual promotions of 18 SIs and

ASIs, nine head-constables and 20 constables have been forfeited by the SSP during the period.

Similarly, one annual promotion of nine SIs and ASIs, four head-constables and 11 constables have also been forfeited during the period.
