SUKKUR, Oct 18: Dozens of prisoners of central jail-II Sukkur climbed the rooftop of the barracks, staged protest demonstration and torched their clothes and bedding on Saturday against what they called atrocious attitude of the jail administration.

They were chanting slogans against the jail authorities for not providing them with the facilities as mentioned in the jail manual.

On Saturday morning, as soon as the prisoners were let out of their barracks, some of them climbed the rooftop of the barracks and started protesting against the jail administration.

The jail inmates also torched their clothes and beddings. Sensing danger the jail administration immediately called the district police, which cordoned off the jail premises to avert any untoward incident.

In the meantime, the jail administration negotiated with the protesting prisoners and assured them that, no search operation would be conducted against them and on this assurance they ended the protest.
