LAHORE, Oct 17: Four-time national champions Army lost valuable points when they failed to utilise their home advantage to draw 0-0 with Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) at the Army Stadium in Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, the other services outfit had a fine day as they registered an impressive 3-0 win over Pakistan Television (PTV) at the Naval Complex in Islamabad in the two Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) matches played on Friday.
The Army-KRL tie was the fourth 0-0 draw between two teams since 2004.
The second match between Navy and PTV saw the seamen relying as always on their strikers Sajjad Ahmed and Asif Mehmood as PTV struggled to tackle them.
Asif Mehmood surged the seamen ahead in the 34th minute after Mohammad Basharat and Nomi Martin Gill opened space for him to finish the job. Although PTV did manage some moves, poor finishing came in their way. Navy led 1-0 at interval.
Asif hit his second goal three minutes after half-time when he faked his way in for a dazzling goal. Sajjad Ahmed rounded off the tally in the 70th minute when he collected a long ball beautifully to hammer it into the right corner.
Saturday’s fixtures: Wapda v PEL at the Railway Stadium in Lahore at 4.00pm.—Agencies
