LAHORE, Oct 15: The senior superintendent of police (operations) has dismissed from service four police officials, three of them station house officers (SHOs), on various charges.

SSP Operations Chaudhry Shafiq Ahmed dismissed from service Samanabad SHO Tariq Jameel, who had already been suspended, and Green Town SHO Khushi Muhammad for backing land grabbers and misusing their powers.

Separately, the SSP issued suspension orders for Racecourse SHO Abid Rasheed and moharrar Nazim for delaying registration of an FIR. They have also been served show-cause notices.

The SSP also sent three officials on forced retirement over different reasons.

According to a handout, Muhammad Rasheed Butt submitted an application to the SSP, complaining that the Green Town SHO had implicated him in a case. An inquiry found the SHO guilty of the charges.

Similarly, Sabahat Rizvi complained to the authorities that Tariq Jameel, when he was serving as Samanabad SHO, released land grabbers Salman Khan and Shabbir. Jameel later amended Ms Rizvi’s application against the accused and registered a case against them under wrong sections of the law.

An inquiry found the SHO guilty of backing land grabbers and amending Ms Rizvi’s application.

The SSP sent ASI Khawar Abbas of Ghaziabad Police Station on forced retirement after he was found guilty of helping land grabbers. The SSP also sent head constable Ghulam Rasool and constable Muhammad Javed of the Operations Wing, Legal Branch, on forced retirement for their unapproved leave and absence from duty.

ARRESTED: Mustafaabad police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested three robbers and seized from them cash, three cell phones and illegal weapons. Police claim Adeel Rafique and his accomplices Nasir Baig and Zulfiqar have ‘confessed’ to committing more than 14 robberies.
