Issam, Fariz create major upsets

ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: Issam Jellali (Tunisia) and Fariz Mohammad (India) created major up sets of the day by defeating top seeds and qualifying for the main draw of the ITF Pakistan Futures International tennis championship at the PTF Tennis Complex on Monday.

Issam overshadowed top-seed Rohan Gide of India in a well-contested three-set match.

While Fariz shocked second seed Pakistan’s Yasir Khan 1-6, 7-6(2), 7-6(5).

Pakistan’s Shahzad Khan and Abid Ali Khan defeated compatriots Aftab Anwar and Mubashir Afridi to advance to the next round.
