ISLAMABAD, Oct 13: Over 30,000 children were immunised against polio in the rural areas of Islamabad on the first day of the drive on Monday.

The three-day drive has been launched to immunise a total of 85,454 children.

District Health Officer Dr Amirzada Khan said the health department had made elaborate arrangements for the 100 per cent coverage of the children against the crippling disease. As many as 218 mobile teams have been activated in the rural areas to visit door to door for administering polio drops to the children. He said the 12 union councils have been divided into seven zones and the teams have been asked to daily submit progress and achievement report to Chief Commissioner Islamabad Kamran Lashari and Deputy Commissioner Amer Ali Ahmed.—APP
