QUETTA, May 9: The Balochistan government has tightened security in Quetta and other parts of the province following suicide bombing in Karachi which left over a dozen people dead.

A top level meeting that was held here under the chairmanship of the Governor Justice (retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal, on Thursday and reviewed overall law and order situation in the province.

Governor Mengal directed the authorities concerned to increase security arrangements all over the province to keep anti-social elements in check and in order to ensure complete peace in the province.

He said no negligence would be tolerated in connection with the security arrangements.

The meeting also took up decision regarding reorganization of labours in the province and took some important decisions in this connection.

Chief Secretary Pervez Saleem, Inspector-General of Police Dr Shoaib Suddle and heads of other law-enforcement agencies attended the meeting.

After the meeting, heavy contingents of law-enforcement agencies were deployed at all the important places, including Iranian and Afghan consulates in Quetta, mosques, Imambargahs, shopping centres and all chowks and bazaars.

The sources said that security men in plain-clothes have also been posted in the city to check activities of suspicious people and to stop any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, Sibi police arrested four leaders of banded Sipa-i-Sahaba Pakistan and Tehrik Jaffaria Pakistan on Tuesday.
