HYDERABAD, Oct 11: Rani Bagh and its zoo would be handed over to Qasimabad taluka municipal administration at a simple ceremony on Oct 17 as the work on its renovation had almost been completed, said DCO Ali Ahmed Lund at a meeting on Saturday.

The DCO said that structural work had been completed and 90 per cent work on lawn and plants had also been completed. The remaining work and arrival of animals in the zoo would be completed before the handing over ceremony, he added.

He informed the meeting that the recreational park would be opened for public soon after its handing over ceremony and directed the officers concerned to complete de-silting work of Wadhu Wah within a week and restore water flow under the two main big culverts each at Hyderabad Bypass and Naseem Nagar Chowk.

He asked the officers to ensure that inventories of each item had been made before handing over the project to TMA and advised the TMA to work out operation and future maintenance of Rani Bagh in advance to avoid any losses in the newly reconstructed park.

VIGILANCE COMMITTEES: DCO Ali Ahmed Lund on Saturday formed five vigilance committees tasked with ensuring supply of flour in the market at controlled price of Rs24.50 per kilogram in the district.

He said at a meeting on enforcement of flour price at his office that the taluka committee would be headed by DDO of revenue having special judicial powers to enforce prices with one representative each from mill owners, chakki owners and local government.

The committees had been assigned the task to visit markets, flour mills, chakkis and check the prevailing price, wheat quota and sale of flour by flour mills and chakki owners and also take action in case of negligence.

He said that the committees would be monitored by the district committee headed by EDO of revenue with District Food Controller Yousuf Kousar Bhatti and Haji Nawab as members and representatives from food department, mill owners and chakki owners association.

He informed the meeting that the chief minister was taking keen interest in provision of flour to people at fixed price as such wheat quota for flour mills and chakkis had been increased.

He said that 40,790 wheat bags were being supplied to each grinding unit from the second week of October. There should be no cause for shortage of flour or its high price in the market, he said.

Mr Lund informed that 57 stalls had also been set up by roller flour mills of the district where flour was being provided to consumers at controlled rates.

BISE: The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education Hyderabad announced on Saturday that the Secondary School Certificate Part-I and II (Class IX and X) supplementary examination 2008 would start with effect from Oct 21.
