QUETTA, Oct 11: The Baloch Republican Party does not believe in parliamentary politics and thinks that armed struggle is the best option for Baloch people to achieve their rights.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday after a council session of his party, BRP secretary-general Dr Bashir Azeem rejected holding of talks with the government to resolve the Balochistan issue.

The two-day council session elected Nawabzada Baramdagh Bugti as president of the party.

Other office-bearers are: Haji Hayat Jamaldani, vice-president; Dr Bashir Azeem, secretary-general; Sher Mohammad Baloch, deputy secretary-general; and Jalil Reki, information secretary.

“Nawab Akbar Bugti had held negotiations with Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Mushahid Hussain which resulted in his killing. Nawab Bugti through JWP senators presented a bill in the upper house seeking maximum autonomy for the provinces but the bill was given no importance,” Dr Azeem said.

He said that during the past six decades Baloch nationalist leaders had held dialogue with the governments despite several military operations but each time the rulers deceived the Baloch people.

He said that after the assassination of Nawab Bugti the BRP reached the conclusion that struggle through parliamentary politics was meaningless and a wastage of time.
