SIALKOT, Oct 10: A newlywed couple was gunned down allegedly over ‘honour’ in Sakhokey village near Daska on Friday.

Zafar Iqbal, of Sakhokey, had married Tanzeela, of Dheedowali, for love a few months ago. They left the area to avoid any ‘backlash’ by girl’s disapproving family.

The couple returned to Sakhokey village on Thursday night but Tanzeela’s relatives spotted them. Some unidentified assailants shot them dead and threw their bodies in fields and fled. The Daska Sadar police sent the bodies for autopsies and registered a case.

STABBED: A man stabbed 11-year-old son of his landlord to death allegedly after molesting him in Sehnsara Goraya village in Daska tehsil on Friday.

Faiz Ahmad went to his outhouse to supply meal to their servant Sukhi Muhammad, of Tandilianwala.

Sukhi allegedly took Faiz to fields and molested him. Later, he stabbed the boy to death and fled after abandoning the body. The Motra police sent the body for an autopsy and registered a case.

SECURITY: A security surveillance system started working in Daska city on Friday. Sialkot DPO Capt Muhammad Ameen (retired) inaugurated the newly-established control centre of the security system at a ceremony at the office of local non-government organization, Young Blood Foundation.

Daska DSP Yar Muhammad Gondal, Sialkot City DSP Waseem Akhtar, Sialkot District Peace Committee member Zafar Malik, Young Blood Foundation chairman Bashir Ahmad Naz, president Tanvir Ahmad Mughal and general-secretary Haji Zahid Jehangir were also present on this occasion.

The DPO said that surveillance cameras had been installed on city’s all roads, crossings, bazaars, markets, banks, commercial centers and other important public places to monitor the activities of anti-social elements.

The DPO said that all banks in Sialkot, Daska, Sambrial and Pasrur tehsils had installed CCTV cameras besides adopting stringent internal security measures on their premises.

He urged banks administrations to depute at least two guards for providing uninterrupted security cover and they should not be assigned any other task during working hours than maintaining security.

The DPO said strict legal action would be taken against banks not complying with latest security code. He said that the police would testify the character of security guards and monitor their performance regularly.
