GUJRAT, Oct 6: People staged a protest outside a private hospital located on Jail Road after a minor girl died in the operation theatre allegedly because of doctors’ negligence on Monday.

Civil Lines police registered a case against two doctors of the hospital.

Three-year-old Jannat of Jalalpur Jattan was injured after she fell from the roof of her house on Sunday evening. She was brought to the private hospital immediately, but the skeleton staff on duty allegedly did not attend to her.

“We were waiting for the doctors, but the staff on duty did not pay attention to my daughter,” said Jannat’s father Tanveer Ahmed. He said a surgeon and a child specialist took Jannat to the operation theatre on Monday, but they pronounced her dead after a couple of minutes. Ahmed said Jannat was administered an overdose of anaesthetics.

During the protest, Jannat’s family placed her body at the entrance to the hospital and raised slogans against the doctors. Civil Lines police reached the scene and took the family to the police station, where Jannat’s father registered an FIR against the two doctors he accused of negligence.
