Bomb hoaxtriggers panic in hospital

Published October 6, 2008

HYDERABAD, Oct 5: A hoax bomb created panic among patients and attendants in a private charitable hospital in the Market police station area on Sunday.

Newly-appointed administrator of the hospital Mr Khatri called police control 15 and bomb disposal squad after receiving the phone call at around 2pm, informing him that a bomb had been planted in the hospital and the building would be blown up in minutes.

The BDS officials found nothing after carrying out a thorough search of all the wards, offices, rooms and lavatories as the patients, their attendants and doctors scurried out of the building.

They remained outside the hospital till the BDS officials allowed them to enter the building.

A BDS official said that the administrator had told them that four days after assuming office he started receiving threatening phone calls and text messages. He had received the hoax call from the same number, he said.

The officials conducted search in the gynaecology ward after the administrator received another call but found nothing.
