Quarrel leads to murder of two

LAHORE, Oct 4: A man and his sister-in-law were shot dead allegedly by their neighbours in Noorpur village of Hudiara locality late on Friday.

The victims were identifiedas Shafaqat alias Amli, son of Ali Bakhsh, 40, and Rasheedan Bibi, 42, wife of Amli’s brother.

The Hudiara circle DSP told Dawn that police investigation revealed that the accused identified as Aas Muhammad, Munsif, Anser, Umer Hayat and accomplices had a quarrel with the victim’s family over a children’s dispute on Friday evening.

Later, the accused party reached the mosque and started abusing the victim party through a loudspeaker.

Villagers and the victim party became infuriated and reprimanded them.

The DSP said to settle score of insult, some members of the accused party entered the house of Shafaqat, abducted him and his sister-in-law, took them to their house and shot them dead.

He said an FIR had been lodged against nine people besides Hudiara SHO Malik Iqbal and ASI Akbar by the victim party. He said the SHO and the ASI had also been suspended from service for negligence.

“We have arrested Aas Muhammad, Munsif, Sajida and Hameedna, while their other family members are still at large,” the DSP claimed.
