KARACHI, Oct 4: A 22-year-old man committed suicide on Saturday at his house in Qasba Colony, police said.

The Pirabad police said that Mohammed Faisal, son of Aurangzeb, hanged himself from a girder at his room in Mohammedi Nagar.

They said the victim was a student of MA and his father was a constable, posted at the Azizabad police.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy and later it was handed over to the family after medico-legal proceedings.

Dacoits arrested

The New Town police arrested two suspected dacoits after a shootout in Bahadurabad.

The police said two dacoits reached the Guardian Pharmacy at Jamaluddin Afghani Road near Sharfabad traffic signal at around 5am in a white Toyota Corolla car (AME-612).

They said that the bandits entered the medical store and snatched the repeater from the security guard after holding him hostage at gunpoint.

The police said that a passerby observed some foul play inside the pharmacy and promptly informed the police. They said a police patrol immediately reached the spot and took position to challenge the dacoits.

They said that the dacoits opened fire on the police party who also returned fire and made the suspected robbers surrender after one of the suspects was hit and wounded.

The police said that a TT pistol, cash and the repeater they had snatched at gunpoint were also seized from the suspects, identified as Fida Hussain, son of Noor Mohammed, and Zubair alias Rajput, son of Ghulam Nabi.

They said that suspect Zubair received two bullets, one in his abdomen and the other in his leg. The police said the wounded bandit was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where he was stated to be in a stable condition.
