Case against 23 for killing student

OKARA, Sept 29: Satgrah police on Monday registered a case against 23 people in the murder case of a class-VI student.

On Sunday evening, some allottees of Kulana estate village in a bid to intimidate their tenants to get their land vacated from them, opened fire, killing student Sarfraz alias Bhola and injuring another boy, Nadeem Iqbal.

Police have registered a case on the report of deceased Sarfraz's uncle Muhammad Siddique against allottees and their men -- Basharat Rizvi, Aftab Butt, Barkat, Roshan Shah Gillani, Hidayat Ullah alias Hadi, Aslam alias Sooki, Faqir, Ramzan alias Janni, Afzal Shah, Yasin, Ghulam Mohyuddin -- and 12 unidentified accomplices.

Sarfraz was laid to rest in the village graveyard while the condition of Nadeem Iqbal is stated to be stable.

DPO Ihsan Sadiq has deployed a heavy police contingent at the Kulana estate to maintain law and order.

ACQUITTED: An additional district and sessions judge on Monday acquitted a murder accused by giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Reports said Gogera police had filed a murder case under Sections 302 and 392 of PPC with AD&SJ Malik Mubeen Ahmad against accused Abdul Ghaffar alias Bhanoo, Safeer and Zafar for killing Muhammad Nawaz at village 45/GI on offering resistance during a dacoity bid.

After hearing arguments, the court acquitted Ghaffar alias Bhanoo by giving him the benefit of the doubt while the remaining two accused are still at large.
