LAHORE, Sept 27: A man hammered his wife to death for not waking him up for fasting at their Kotli Pir Abdul Rehman residence on Saturday.

Harbanspura police said the victim, Sarfraz Bibi (45), had three children.

On Friday night, her husband Ramzan had asked his wife to wake him up for fasting but she could not do so.

On Saturday morning, he woke up and reprimanded her. An argument ensued and the infuriated husband hit the wife's head with a hammer at least three times. She got critically injured.

She was taken to Shalimar Hospital from where she was referred to Lahore General Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police arrested the accused who confessed to his crime.

According to the police, Ramzan was jobless and an addict.

A case was registered against the accused on the complaint of victim’s brother Pervez.
